Ideas on Earth were badges of friendship or enmity. Their content did not matter. Friends agreed with friends, in order to express friendliness. Enemies disagreed with enemies, in order to express enmity.
Kilgore Trout, in Lingo-Three, as quoted in Vonnegut 1973
Many years ago I was able to attend a lecture given by KVJ and it was worth the time. He was always a pretty crusty person and by then he was well crinkly too. Towards the end of the lecture he mentioned how we’re here many to fart around. Going out, doing things, running into people and just generally getting through life. One day at a time.
I’m sure he’d have some pretty pointed comments about recent events and the past few years in America. 🙂
