After all, it is located in Black Canyon.

DG – I love this, and was about to start a blog campaign to start calling it “Black Canyon Dam”, until I googled and found another dam by that name in Idaho. It’s a travesty, a wimpy little diversion dam barely worthy of the name:
So the first thing we’ve gotta do is get that dam’s name changed. I recommend “Boulder Dam”. 🙂

The accepted story is naming it after a president.
Hasn’t been the first time. Look at Mt Denali in Alaska. Got re-named to McKinley. Considering how things are named, today it would be re-named to ‘Palin Peak’… Of course, she’s not the president but that doesn’t matter.
