Something Sinaguan. If you haven’t seen Montezuma’s well and it isn’t too far to go, check it out.
Check out the water reclamation facility for the city of Gilbert (aka Gilbert Water Ranch) and take your binoculars as there is fantastic birding there and probably a good use of water, too.

How about the Tempe Town Lake? The extra humidity combined with tons and tons of heat-trapping concrete has made Phoenix even hotter and more uncomfortable than it used to be.
If you’re a fan of gee-whiz engineering stuff you might try to get in touch with Central Arizona Water Conservation District (the folks who run the CAP) to see if you can get a tour of a) their state of the art facility for managing the canal or b) one of their recharge projects in the Phx area.
