Seldom has a satellite image conveyed quite so much useful information quite so easily:
From Yale Simkin, in the comments at the Arms Control Wonk. That’s one approach, I guess, to energy conservation.

Definitely information… but whats the moral?
Horrific failed states with evil dictators and collapsed economies don’t use much electricity. Not sure this would be the ideal post-Kyoto path, but it’s one option.
just…wow
John,
This image focuses a discussion that friends and I have been having.
If I have $10 that I am willing to take out of my own pocket and spend for the betterment of the planet, where should I spend it and why?
Should I put it into the New York stock market, Greenpeace, a small company in the well lit South Korea, or should I buy some batteries and light bulbs and send them to the unlit North Korea?
Where should the $10 go?
Note also the fishing lights off the coast. Why lights? They’re fishing for squid. The yummier fish are fished out.
Best,
D
