The death of Marco Pantani is a sad day for my sport. Seeing his decline these last few years was sad. Knowing of his drug use was unfuriating.
Seeing him dance up mountains will always remain special.

Oh no !!! … I cant believe it. Well I guess given his moody disposition over the last few years, that an exit like this wasnt out of the question. I havent read any velo-news for the last week or so, so your blog-link was the 1st I heard about it. I’ve got a soft-spot for climbers, and Marco is the only rider to have a presence (photo) on my office wall. I imagine if I spoke any Italian I might be able to voice my distress a little more colourfully, but this is ‘Very sad’ indeed. 🙁
Who will us hill-climbers emulate now that Pantani is gone?
D
Dano’s a bike rider, and a climber too! Cool.
I think we just need to go out and climb, that’ll do honor enough.
